Stephen Neel has been active in the food industry since 1985. Upon completion of his Ph.D. program in Meat Science & Muscle Biology from the University of Georgia in 1992, Stephen joined the United States Meat Export Federation (USMEF), an international trade association promoting US meat products around the world. In 1997 he entered the private sector by joining ConAgra Beef Company (later to become JBS) in Greeley, Colorado, where he was responsible for the development of technical training and marketing programs for the domestic and international divisions of the company.
In 2001, Stephen formed his own consultation company, called Technical Solutions International (TSI), providing technical marketing solutions to the perishable food industry both domestically and internationally. His international assignments have taken him to over 70 countries to provide food safety and cold chain assistance. Stephen serves as the Senior Technical Director for the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA), headquartered in the DC area, where he develops technical resource materials and works on international projects as a technical specialist.
A native of Oregon, Stephen and his wife, Lisa, own and operate a 160-acre cattle and horse ranch near Eugene, Oregon. They have two grown sons who live in the area.
